Tongue ring getting caught on my bottom teeth..please help?

I just got my tongue pierced today. When i stick out my tongue, my tongue ring gets caught on my bottom teeth when i put it back in & it hurts. Did this ever happen to you? Is it because the tongue ring is too long? I need to know for when i kiss my bf when my tongue heals i dont want my tongue to get caught.
