When i plug my iPod touch 3G into my computer, it freezes at the Apple logo screen and has a loading circle.?

Whenever i plug my ipod touch in it freezes at the apple logo screen and has a frozen loading circle. i've tried resetting it but it didn't work. i got it at a pawn shop and they said they cleared all the music and everything out back to factory. any help will be great.
